Fallen

Below, fallen from home,
a tiny life left alone.

Chirping, a cry for help,
how frightened it must have felt.

Waiting, perched by my door,
a sight I haven’t seen before.

Sympathetic, but full of hope,
that change is something it can cope.

Distant, it seemed from life.
A day passed, a short strife.

And away the little one flew,
off to a land it never knew,
with wings it never used.

A tribute to the little bird at my doorstep.
